The true power and glory of an automobile is thought to be its engine. But if the torque of the engine is not able to grace the drive wheels then it will all have been in vain. The device responsible for getting the engine torque to the drive wheels is the drive train. A rather mysterious device to non-auto-wizards.
The drivetrain, along with the torque converter help to transfer power from the engine to the wheels as the car accelerates. Once the car is in the appropriate gear, the power transfer will begin allowing the driver to use the car as a vehicle to roam the surface of the earth looking for lost one wonders, or just the grocery store.
Problems with the drivetrain tend to lead to more expensive problems if they are not addressed. Sometimes the required repairs are more expensive than the car itself. The Car Doctor would be more than happy to help you with any repairs to the drive train. Just bring it in, and we will take care of you.
It is probably time to check the drive train if you witness any of the following phenomena
- reddish fluid leaking from under your car
- transmission fluid that is a thick ooze and has a burnt odor
- Odd vibrations and noises during gear shifts
- Noises from beneath the car floor that sound like grinding or a whine.
